The PUHC ABS vs FLABS Tournament

PUHC once again held a very successful tournament to commemorate its anniversary. Dubbed as ABS vs FLABS, PUHC's skinny players were pitted against the "chubby" ones. The tourney was destined to be a classic as soon as it was conceptualized.

PUHC has a history of setting up "unique" themes for its tourneys.. and this one fits the classic billing to a T.

I've long been asking PUHC to get rid of its usual drafting process when it comes to forming teams for the tournaments. It was a hit in the beginning but became really on the last few tourneys. As proof, ask some of the regular players of PUHC to name at least 2 formats used during the last 4 years.. and you will surely hear "North vs. South", and "Black vs. White". :)

Kudos goes out first to the tourney director, Achi Mitch, who I think really outdid herself this time. The tournament went nearly flawless. Save for some glitches like the very minor delay on the first day (because of the unexpected traffic), and some kinks at officiating on the finals match.

Day 1 clearly belonged to the ABS team.. as they obliterated the FLABS. Winning 4 out of the possible 6 matches including a tie game.

Key players we're missing from both teams on day 1, but the FLABS got the worst of it.

Day 2 was a different story. As the FLABS regrouped and supercharged their lineups. Almost all of their strongest players showed up and was the reason why they won ALMOST all of their games.

The outcome was the same as Day 1. Except that it was the FLABS who won most of their games, got a tie, and 1 loss.

In the finals match, the top 10 men and women from both teams dueled it out in a highly fueled slugfest.

The ABS men got destroyed by the FLABS mens team. As they were simply too strong for the undermanned ABS... which were missing some of its players.

The ABS women won their match against the very tough FLABS womens team and that proved to be enough to seal the championship for Team ABS.

Earning them the victory and the CHAMPIONSHIP patches!

As per PUHC tradition, a tournament isnt complete without a killer after-tourney party!

BLACKOUT was theme of the night as the PUHCers were required to come in their best ALL BLACK ATTIRE!

Wearing any other color means GETTING SHOT. With a hard liquor that is. :)

As always, the party rocked and everyone had a blast!
